Senior Services has been serving Seniors 55 and over since 1968. It was founded to address age discrimination taking place in area businesses. SSA observed that, in layoffs, the higher-paid senior was often "the first to go" and the most likely to encounter discrimination when seeking employment.

SSA's goal is to ensure that seniors with skills, experience, knowledge, and the desire to work are afforded opportunities to do so through employment counseling and referral to interested employers.

Seniors seek employment for various reasons, most often financial ones. Other reasons can be a desire to switch careers, "get out of the house," supplement their income to pay for newly emerging needs, and, very often, simply to continue to contribute in the workplace.

Senior Services staff will assist the mature worker in finding a position in the community.

Our services are available to you at no charge, although donations are appreciated. You can call us at (703) 836-4414, ext. 13, to schedule an appointment with the Employment Counselor. [If you seek employment as an in-home assistant or chore worker, you must bring two forms of identification, one of which must include a photograph (driver's license, passport picture).] Applicants will be required to have a TB test and Criminal Records background check every year.
