Honors Alexandria Families at "Generation to Generation" Gala

Senior Services of Alexandria will honor four local families who represent the importance of generations of civic leaders who create strong and caring communities.

On March 27, 2010, the "Generation to Generation" Gala will be held at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center to recognize Mollie Abraham and Mary Abraham, Dr. Frank Carroll and Drew Carroll, Charlie Collum and Joseph Collum, and Ferdinand Day and Gwen Day-Fuller.

These families have served Alexandria through their businesses, faith communities, and civic organizations. Their contributions have created a better place to live and set an important example in the community.

For 42 years, Senior Services of Alexandria has provided vital programs and services for the senior population in Alexandria, including: Meals on Wheels, Senior Taxi, in home care, employment and money management.

Washingtonian magazine selected Senior Services of Alexandria as one of the top twelve local charities for effectiveness and efficiency. "SSA makes it easier to be elderly," stated the article, "by providing more than 72,000 discounted rides for seniors and delivering 46,000 meals annually."

The annual Gala is an important source of funding to support SSA and to recognize the importance of the organization's work in the community.
