How You Can Help

There are many ways you can support the programs and events of Senior Services of Alexandria.

Individual Giving
Senior Services of Alexandria receives and greatly appreciates donations of all sizes, year-'round. It is the financial support provided by community members, their families, and friends that allows SSA to continue its programs and services for Alexandria's senior citizens. In addition to direct donations, there are many other ways to show your support for SSA.

Employer Matching-gift Programs
To further their ability to give back to the community, many businesses operate employer matching-gift programs. Through these programs, employers agree to match an employee's donation to a local non-profit at a predetermined ratio. This is an excellent way for individuals to increase the size and impact of their gift at no personal additional cost. Contact SSA or your HR office to find out if your company offers a matching-gift program.

Bequests
Interested in helping Alexandria's seniors live healthy and productive lives? Want to say thank you to SSA for the services provided for you or a friend? Consider making a legacy gift to SSA in your will. Bequests are a special, touching, and enduring way of showing you care for both SSA and Alexandria.

In-kind Support
If you have a unique skill or access to goods that might be of particular value to SSA, consider in-kind giving.

Corporate and Foundation Giving
Foundations, local businesses, and corporations seeking ways to invest in the health of our community should consider making a grant or corporate gift to SSA, with the assurance that it will efficiently translate into support for Alexandria residents. In addition to grants, SSA also offers several opportunities for partnerships, such as program or event sponsorships, naming and visibility opportunities, in-kind giving, employee volunteerism, and more.

Special Events
SSA plans special events throughout the year to unite and thank all of our supporters. Our primary event is the Generation to Generation Gala, which takes place each spring and honors pairs of related community members who have exhibited a commitment to giving their time and energy to Alexandria. Other events include wine tastings and our Dine Out to Help Out events that take place throughout the year.

Celebratory and Remembrance Gifts
Give the gift of giving. Make a special donation to Senior Services of Alexandria in honor or celebration of an exciting event, or to convey your sympathies at the passing of a friend or loved one. By giving a gift of a donation, you show you care about your friend or loved one as well as your community. Gifts can be made in any amount, and if you are unsure of how much to give, contact us. We are happy to work with you to determine an appropriate amount. Senior Services of Alexandria will send a special note card to the specified individual or family in recognition of the gift.

Volunteering
Volunteering your personal time is a very special way to give something back to your community.Since the very beginning of Senior Services, we have relied on volunteers to supplement the efforts of our staff. The seniors they all serve represent every segment of the Alexandria community, from the homeless to the "well housed". From those with no income to those who are financially stable. Staff and volunteers work together to provide a wide variety of services to help seniors maintain their independence and self sufficiency. We offer you the opportunity to make a real difference in your community as a Senior Services Volunteer.

SSA accepts donations online, by mail, or in person. Payments can be made by credit card (VISA, MasterCard, or American Express-online only), check, money order, or via stock transfer.
