About Meals on Wheels in Alexandria

Few things are more essential and more comforting than a nutritious meal. Meals on Wheels is a life-sustaining program that allows seniors who are unable to leave their homes to shop or who have difficulty preparing a meal to have two healthy meals a day delivered to their homes.

SSA provides meals 365 days a year in partnership with a cadre of over 200 loyal volunteers as well as the City of Alexandria's Department of Community and Human Services' Division of Aging and Adult Services, Alexandria Yellow Cab, Christ Church Gift Shop, Downtown Baptist Church, Meals on Wheels Association of America, Safeway Foundation, United Way, Walmart Foundation, Westminister Presbyterian Church, and the Ronald M. Bradley Foundation for their generous support for the Holiday Meals-on-Wheels Program.

Would you like to be a Meals on Wheels volunteer and make a difference in a Senior's life? We are always looking for volunteers especially on the weekends. All we ask is that each volunteer commit to two (very satisfying) hours a month - that is just one morning of deliveries! And don't worry, we'll train you. Do you have a club or class that wants to volunteer together? We work with groups as well. To find out more call 703-836-4414, ext 12. or email volunteer@seniorservicesalex.org.
