The Meals on Wheels program:

Senior Resource Center
The Senior Citizens' Resource Center is a one-stop source for information about services, activities, and resources for the 55+ population in the City of Alexandria. It provides seniors, their families and caregivers with access to comprehensive, dependable information, and guidance on how to get the services they need.
In addition to the expanded services SSA provides through the Senior Citizens' Resource Center, the Center also houses two previously existing services: In-home Care Employment & Referrals and Daily Money Management.
In-Home Care Employment & Referrals
Senior Services of Alexandria provides placement assistance for in-home care professionals seeking work with a senior citizen, and helps locate affordable in-home assistants for seniors requesting help.
Daily Money Management
While most day-to-day activities and events are easily managed by seniors, financial issues can be more challenging. Senior Services of Alexandria provides Daily Money Management assistance, which involves paying bills, balancing bank accounts, and helping to resolve financial problems. Adult children who live out of town rely on Senior Services of Alexandria to assist their aging parents with these tasks and to ensure that their financial health is maintained. Our staff often provides a lifeline for them. Senior Services of Alexandria keeps a vigilant watch for potentially unfair or harmful financial practices, and intervenes when needed. Our staff also offers advice on Medicare, Medicaid, and other health-related programs, and works closely with the City of Alexandria social services, mental health agency, employment and housing departments, as well as an array of other services available to Alexandria's seniors to help them manage their day-to-day financial issues.
